Paul Brohan

Paul Brohan is the Director of Artistic Initiatives for the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland in College Park. In his nine years at the Clarice Smith Center, Paul has led expanded initiatives in the commissioning of new works, community engagement, creative programming, artist partnerships and has collaborated on unique partnerships with academic programs on the campus of the University of Maryland and in communities around the region. Paul is currently appointed for a three year term on the review panel of the National Dance Project.

In a varied and diverse career within the performing arts, Paul has served in roles as presenter, producer, manager, mentor and teacher. In almost 30 years of experience, Paul has benefited from his experiences with talented colleagues and has led collaborations and programs as a faculty member in the Department of Theatre at the University of Michigan/Flint; General Manager for Ballet Michigan; Principal Public Events Manager at the University of California, Santa Barbara and as Producing Director of theatre, music theatre and dance with Northwestern University.

Originally incarnated as a lighting designer and trained in theatre design, Paul has served as lighting designer for more than one hundred and twenty projects across the country, including a number of world and American premieres among the total.
